Apsara Dance

Indeed, many will agree that no visit to Cambodia is complete without having witnessed an “Apsara Dance” performance. Perhaps the most popular among Cambodia’s traditional dance forms, the “Apsara Dance” is said to have already existed in the 6th-7th centuries based on some of the carvings found at the Sambor Prei Kuk temples in the Kompong Thom province.

Generally, it tells the story (in the form of dance and acting) of how the Temples of Angkor were built and explains some of Cambodia’s customs. Truly and uniquely Cambodian, the “Apsara Dance” is something you shouldn’t miss if you want to find out more about Khmer culture and traditions.
